Dystopia is Here

In March 2024, al-Jazeera released footage taken from an Israeli drone that it was able to obtain. The incident itself took place in February 2024. The video is from the viewpoint of a camera tracking four Palestinian men walking along an unpaved road in the city of Khan Younis in Gaza. They are clearly unarmed and posed no threat. Then all of a sudden, a blast from the drone takes out two of the young men. One manages to get away, but shortly thereafter he is also executed. Another one was stumbling, trying to get away; after he fell to his knees, the drone executed him as well.

Apologists for Israel could argue that these young men were “Hamas operatives”, but where is the proof? Would Hamas fighters really be strolling along casually like that in broad daylight? Is that the type of training the armed resistance groups give their fighters? In actuality, the “crime” committed here was being Palestinian males of fighting age.

We also need to address Israel’s broad brush stroke when it comes to Hamas. With Hamas being the governing body in Gaza after the free and fair elections in 2006, any civil servant could be considered Hamas by Israel’s standards. The IDF could murder a trash collector and claim he was Hamas. Not everyone affiliated with Hamas is part of its armed wing, the al-Qassam Brigades.

This video was bizarre and extremely disturbing to watch, but it’s necessary to watch for those wanting to get a true understanding of the situation. Is this really happening? This isn’t a movie or video game? What sort of nightmare are we living in? Dystopia is here, folks.
